MIR has introduced the Spirobank II Smart, a compact, portable spirometer designed for multiplatform use in various healthcare settings. The device is engineered to provide clinicians with flexible testing options, functioning as a stand-alone unit or in conjunction with external devices.

The spirometer offers three distinct usage modes: stand-alone operation, connection to a PC via USB using MIR Spiro software, and connection to a tablet via Bluetooth using the MIR Spiro app. This versatility allows for real-time display of spirometric tests on the device screen, a tablet, or a computer monitor.

The Spirobank II Smart is a versatile portable spirometer with an oximetry option, said MIR in a news release. The device supports several test types, including forced vital capacity (FVC), slow vital capacity (VC), maximum voluntary ventilation (MVV), and PRE/POST bronchodilator comparisons.

To support clinical accuracy, the device includes an integrated temperature sensor for automatic body temperature pressure saturated (BTPS) conversion. The spirometer meets current American Thoracic Society (ATS) and European Respiratory Society (ERS) standards. It also features an integrated traffic light system to assist healthcare providers with test interpretation.

For pediatric patients, the system utilizes real-time animations on tablets and PCs. These incentives are designed to improve patient compliance during the testing maneuver. Additionally, the device includes an optional oximetry sensor for spot testing of oxygen saturation (SpO2%) and heart rate (BPM).

Data management and connectivity are facilitated through the MIR Spiro software, which integrates with electronic medical record (EMR) and electronic healthcare record (EHR) systems. The software supports various protocols, including HL7, GDT, FHIR, and Exchange protocol, to ensure seamless data transfer within healthcare facilities.

The device is compatible with two types of flowmeters: the FlowMIR disposable turbine and a reusable turbine. The disposable turbine is factory-calibrated and individually packaged with a cardboard mouthpiece to assist with infection control protocols. The Spirobank II Smart also features a high-resolution screen and a lightweight design for ease of use in mobile or stationary clinical environments.
