The Bird MicroBlender is now a part of the Maxtec line of air-oxygen blender and oxygen therapy products.

RT’s Three Key Takeaways

  1. Strategic Acquisition: Maxtec has acquired the Bird MicroBlender from Vyaire Medical, integrating it into their product line to advance respiratory care technology.
  2. Core Product Applications: The Bird MicroBlender is used for precise FiO2 delivery in settings like anesthesia, NICUs, and oxygen therapy, aligning with Maxtec’s mission of supporting healthier breathing.
  3. Future Production and Availability: Maxtec is transferring production to its facilities, with the relaunch of Bird MicroBlender products and maintenance kits expected by mid-2025 through existing distribution channels.

Maxtec has acquired the Bird MicroBlender from Vyaire Medical’s ventilator business unit, according to a company news release.

The Bird MicroBlender facilitates delivery of accurate FiO2 mixtures and is commonly used in a variety of applications such as anesthesia and supplemental oxygen therapy in healthcare facilities, NICUs and transport.

“We’re very excited about the acquisition of the Bird MicroBlender,” said Kathy Ouellette, President and CEO of Perma Pure and Maxtec, “as it organically aligns with our existing product line and mission of advancing technology to enable a healthier world with every breath.”

Acquiring this product line brings core capabilities in-house, helping us to ensure customers have access to market leading solutions as Vyaire phases out production and creates a platform for future product innovation.

The transfer of design and production of the Bird MicroBlender product line to Maxtec’s national production sites is currently underway. With an anticipated launch in mid-2025, all Bird MicroBlender and maintenance kits will be available for sale through existing Maxtec channels.
