The United States is experiencing the highest amount of influenza activity in the last 15 years, with an estimated 24 million cases, according to data from the CDC.
According to a CDC update, as of February 1, 2025, influenza test positivity increased to 31.6% nationally.
Influenza activity is very high in a dozen states, high in 19 and the District of Columbia, moderate in 14 states, and low in only three states.

The CDC reports that the amount of acute respiratory illness causing people to seek healthcare is very high. Emergency department visits are very high for diagnosed influenza, accounting for 8.0% of emergency room visits nationally, up from 7.2% the week prior and 5.4% two weeks earlier.
The CDC projects that emergency department visits in the next two weeks will remain high and may increase in most states.
