Mediware Information Systems Inc, a provider of comprehensive healthcare software applications, has released its newest solution for pulmonary and cardiovascular departments in outpatient rehabilitation facilities and respiratory units.
The Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab content and workflow helps support CMS’ readmission reduction program implemented as part of the Affordable Care Act, specifically related to COPD. The documentation in MediLinks Outpatient software accommodates and adheres to these new regulations for patients being treated in the cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation programs.
Mediware has offered a full outpatient rehabilitation solution for more than 25 years. According to Stuart Foster, GM of Mediware’s Rehabilitation and Respiratory products, the addition of software for cardiopulmonary departments is a natural extension to the division’s deep product offerings. “A few of our clients approached us about building specific content for their cardiopulmonary department and after reviewing the needs, we determined our rehab-specific software would align nicely,” he said.
Clients using the new workflow appreciate its ability to propagate data from the initial assessment forward, mitigating redundancy in subsequent charts. The information automatically flows into the Patient Information Panel as well. The new MediLinks software offering improves charge capture because of more consistent and supportive documentation for time and untimed procedures. This is a huge benefit in deterring claim reversals in the event of a CMS audit.
Pulmonary Rehabilitation software is very focused on an Individual Treatment Plan (ITP) better known in the traditional rehabilitation setting as a Plan of Care. As a result, content follows the AACVPR’s guidelines and includes the Daily Treatment Note, Six Minute Walk, Clinical Outcomes Flowsheets and Home Exercise.
