The NeoSucker Curved provides an anatomically designed alternative to hard plastic suction tips to help reduce tissue trauma.
RT’s Three Key Takeaways:
- Anatomical Design: The NeoSucker Curved provides a softer, curved alternative to traditional hard plastic suction devices, featuring a flexible tip designed to minimize oral and nasal trauma.
- Pediatric Focus: The device includes an extra-large model specifically for older pediatric patients who may bite down on suction tools and is indicated for bedside use for patients at risk of seizure.
- Operational Efficiency: Designed for single-handed use, the device features a thumb port for intermittent suctioning and is intended for single-patient use with a 24-hour replacement protocol.
Neotech Products has developed the NeoSucker Curved, an anatomically curved suction tip designed to provide a softer alternative to standard hard plastic devices for oral and nasal use. The device is indicated for use as a tip for suction tubing to aspirate fluids from the mouth and nares.
The NeoSucker Curved features a flexible tip similar to a bulb syringe, which helps prevent tissue trauma during the suctioning process, according to a news release from Neotech Products. The product line includes the N208 extra-large model, which is designed for older pediatric patients who are prone to biting down on suction devices.
“NeoSucker Curved is an ideal bedside addition for patients at risk of seizure,” said Neotech Products in a news release.
Designed for single-handed operation, the device includes a thumb port that allows healthcare providers to perform intermittent suctioning. To operate the device, users connect the barbed end to a suction line and set the pressure according to hospital protocol or physician recommendation. Suctioning begins when the user blocks the thumb port and stops when the thumb is removed.
The device is intended for single-patient use. Healthcare providers are instructed to suction sterile water through the device after each use to clear debris and to replace the tip every 24 hours or per hospital protocol, whichever is sooner. Federal law restricts this device to sale by or on the order of a physician.
