The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has updated its website on Pneumonia, including updated statistics, risk factors and vaccine information.

According to the CDC, more than 41,000 people died from pneumonia in the United States during 2021.

The agency also includes information on vaccinations against bacterial and viral infections that can lead to pneumonia, including:

  • Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib)
  • Pertussis (whooping cough)
  • Pneumococcal
  • COVID-19
  • Influenza (flu)
  • Measles
  • Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV)
  • Varicella (chickenpox)
