The SmartLab system with Insight software offers modular sensing and real-time analysis for research applications.

RT’s Three Key Takeaways:

  1. Modular Sensor Design: The base module supports up to four sensor modules for measuring flow, airway pressures, or external voltage inputs.
  2. Expanded Input Options: Optional modules are available to track oxygen and carbon dioxide levels, pulse oximetry, temperature, and humidity.
  3. Customizable Software: The Insight software provides real-time graphing and common respiratory calculations, with the option to develop custom modules for specific research needs.

Hans Rudolph Inc‘s SmartLab Instrumentation System with Insight Software is a modular platform designed for the measurement and analysis of respiratory signals in research settings.

The system’s base module is capable of accepting up to four sensor modules, according to the company website. These modules are designed to measure flow from pneumotachs, airway or other pressures, or voltage inputs from external devices.

The SmartLab system also supports a variety of optional inputs to expand its measurement capabilities. These include an oximeter, oxygen sensor, carbon dioxide sensor, temperature and humidity sensors, and digital I/O.

The accompanying Insight PC software generates real-time graphs and calculates various common respiratory parameters. Data collected through the system can be saved for later analysis or replayed for review. Hans Rudolph Inc noted that custom software modules can also be developed to meet the requirements of special applications.
