Hamilton Medical AG, Bonaduz, Switzerland, announced a purchasing and licensing agreement with Masimo, Irvine, Calif, that includes the integration of Masimo’s SET® Measure-Through Motion and Low Perfusion pulse oximetry with Hamilton Medical’s fully closed-loop mechanical ventilation systems. The INTELLiVENT®-ASV is a fully closed-loop ventilation system, designed to automate ventilation and oxygenation in one system.
The new system integration, available in HAMILTON-S1 and HAMILTON-G5 ICU ventilators, will be showcased by Hamilton Medical during the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM) LIVES 2012 congress in Lisbon, Portugal, October 13 to October 17.
The Masimo SET integration and its extended measurement options has enabled Hamilton Medical to maximize ventilation support options for the HAMILTON-S1 and HAMILTON-G5 ventilators. According to the company, the integration of Masimo SET with Hamilton Medical ventilators also expands the options for SpO2 technologies. SpO2 measurements are used by INTELLiVENT-ASV and are also marketed separately as monitored parameters.
A dedicated sensor adapter for Masimo is also featured. The adapter can be mounted on standard rails and also offers a storage position for CAPNOSTAT® CO2 sensors. Users also have the ability to manage SpO2 and CO2 sensor cables in order to prevent cable entanglements.
