The transition took place during the annual ERS Congress, marking the end of the presidential term of Prof Joanna Chorostowska-Wynimko, who now transitions to the role of ERS past president, according to the organization. The society noted that the general assembly serves as the governing body responsible for amending organizational statutes, setting annual membership dues, submitting proposals to the executive committee, and approving financial accounts.
Alongside the presidential handover, several newly elected members of the ERS leadership team formally started their mandates, according to the society. Prof Silke Meiners assumed the role of ERS vice president, while Prof Zorana J Andersen began her mandate as ERS advocacy council chair.
Associate Prof Mariëlle Pijnenburg stepped in as the new educational council chair, and Prof John Hurst assumed the post of ERS publications committee chair, the organization announced.
