The device provides continuous carbon dioxide and oxygen data to improve workflow and support ventilator management across healthcare settings.

RT’s Three Key Takeaways:

  1. Continuous Noninvasive Monitoring: The tCOM+ provides real-time tracking of transcutaneous carbon dioxide, oxygen saturation, and pulse rate to help clinicians manage ventilators and assess patient status without frequent blood draws.
  2. Enhanced Workflow Efficiency: New software updates and features like Smart Cal-Mem allow for temporary disconnections during patient repositioning or breaks without losing monitoring continuity.
  3. Clinical Versatility: The system is designed for use across various healthcare settings, including neonatal intensive care and sleep medicine, and is compatible with existing patient data management systems.

Sentec has released the tCOM+, its latest monitor for continuous, noninvasive measurement of transcutaneous carbon dioxide (tcPCO2), oxygen saturation (SpO2), and pulse rate (PR).

The tCOM+ includes software advances intended to improve provider workflow and support proactive ventilator management, according to Sentec. The system is designed to reduce the frequency of blood draws by providing CO2 values that correlate with arterial blood gas (PaCO2) regardless of the ventilation strategy or degree of ventilation-perfusion (V/Q) mismatch.

The tCOM+ offers continuous monitoring of tcPCO2, SpO2, and PR with a sleek new look and feel, Sentec reports. This latest model includes software advances that improve workflow for providers, while continuing to support reduced blood draws and proactive ventilator management across care areas.

To support patient safety, particularly in neonatal and pediatric intensive care, the monitor uses low temperatures and design features to protect skin integrity. The device also includes the Smart Cal-Mem feature, which allows clinicians to temporarily disconnect patients for repositioning, bathroom breaks, and other workflows without interrupting the monitoring process, according to Sentec.

The tCOM+ is designed for connectivity with patient monitoring systems (PMS), patient data management systems (PDMS), and polysomnography (PSG) systems. The lightweight device features a fold-flat handle and integrated cable management to help organize bedside equipment.

The monitor is compatible with the V-Sign sensor and offers various attachment options, including multi-site rings for sensitive skin, nonadhesive wraps for very low birth weight infants, ear clips for adults, and staysite adhesive for mobile patients. The system also offers transcutaneous oxygen (tcPO2) monitoring in select models.
