Robert D. Hansen, founder, CEO, and chairman of the board of Electromed Inc announced his retirement this week after 20 years with the company. The board of directors has named James J. Cassidy, PhD, interim CEO. Cassidy joined the company in 2011 as chief operating officer.

Hansen and his brother Craig Hansen first began work on Electromed’s SmartVest® Airway Clearance System in 1992. Since then, the company has grown to more than $19 million in sales and 90 employees. The company also contracts with more than 300 certified respiratory therapists and nurses who educate patients on the use of the SmartVest.
